Space Video of the Day - 091013

Today's space video of the day is an ESOcast from the European Southern Observatory entitled Celestial tango makes for a gorgeous nebula. In the direction of the constellation Carina lies the nebula centered on the star HD87643. ESO was able to image the star using multiple telescopes and by combining the data produced a range of images, from the widest field image to the closest closeup of the star, equivalent to a zoom factor of 60 thousand times. The closup image shows that HD87643 is actually a binary star, and may explain the existence of the nebula itself.
